THE grieving family of a dad-of-three who was found unconscious in the street before tragically passing away has paid a heartbreaking tribute.
Nawaz Khan, 43, was found in Crumpsall, Manchester, late on Monday night.
Paramedics and police were scrambled to the scene after receiving reports of concern for the welfare of a man.
Nawaz was found at the scene and emergency services battled to save his life.
He was rushed to hospital but sadly died a short while later, despite the best efforts of medics.
Nawaz’s family has since remembered him as a “wonderful” dad who “adored” his children.
Mr Khan’s daughter Surayah Khan, 19, told the Manchester Evening News: “He was a wonderful person. He struggled after his mum died in 2021. He had three children who he adored, he would go the lengths of the earth for them.
“He had four sisters; he would have done anything for them. He was always messaging and checking up on people. I last spoke to him on Saturday and I got the call on Monday that he was in hospital and he had passed away.
“We were starting to bond and I wish we had longer. We started going out together, taking him places. He was hilarious, always trying to put a smile on people’s faces. If you needed, he would give you his last £10. I want to say how much he loved his family and for people to know he was not in conflict with anybody.”
Nawaz’s sister also paid tribute, saying her brother was a gentle man who made his family his top priority.
After a post-mortem examination was carried out, cops said the tragedy was being treated as unexpected.
A probe into the incident was launched and remains ongoing as investigators try to establish the circumstances around the death.
A man was previously arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder, cops said.
He has been bailed as officers continue to probe Nawaz’s death.
Two scenes were put in place overnight as detectives carried out enquiries; they remained in place this morning.
Det Insp Chris Chadderton previously asked anyone who might have seen anything on the evening of the incident to contact police immediately.
The Greater Manchester Police detective went on to say: “This is a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life, and our thoughts are firmly with his loved ones.
“We have a team of detectives working to piece together the events leading up to his death and are continuing to explore all available lines of enquiry.
“We urge anyone who may have seen anything to please contact us as this could be vital to our investigation.
“This includes any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from the area at the time, or information from anyone who may have seen something suspicious.”
