On March 16, the host returned to the network after a few days away following the death of his mother.

“It’s good to be back,” Hemmer calmly said in an Instagram Reel shared by America’s Newsroom.

“Thank you for your grace, and everybody at home for sharing that with my family and me.

“We really greatly appreciate that, thank you.”

The Reel was captioned: “Our morning just got better. Welcome back, Bill! We missed you!”

Just a few days before his return, Hemmer shared a heartbreaking post honoring his late mother.

“I will forever miss this beautiful smile,” he wrote on Instagram.

“My Mom was clever, fun, funny, always guided by her faith. And she lived it, too.”

In his post, he wrote that she was survived by five children, 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

“Her two priorities were God and family,” he wrote.

Hemmer’s father, William R. Hemmer, passed away last year.

“Georganne Mary Hemmer is reunited for eternity with my Dad, the love of her life,” he said in the post.

“If anyone’s in heaven, they are. Rest forever in gentle peace, Ma. I love you.”

Politicians and fellow stars alike offered condolences for Hemmer, including his co-anchor, Dana Perino.
