Emergency services were called to the Melbourne racetrack about 10.05am following reports a vehicle had struck a pole during Round 5 of the MSCA Super Sprint Championship.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, could not be saved and died at the scene.
Victoria Police confirmed officers attended the incident and investigations into the fatal crash were underway.
“Police responded to a fatal single vehicle crash in Calder Park today,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.
“The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, who is yet to be formally identified, sadly died at the scene.
“Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
“WorkSafe has been notified.”
The fatality occurred during Round 5 of the MSCA Super Sprint Championship, a grassroots motorsport series held at Calder Park Raceway.
