BBC Breakfast Naga Munchetty’s romance with famous husband who is ‘the better half’
Away from the iconic BBC Breakfast sofa, presenter Naga Munchetty is loved-up with her husband
Naga Munchetty is a familiar face to many thanks to her long-running stint on BBC Breakfast but who is her husband that she “doesn’t row’” with?
After joining the network back in 2010, Naga has become a staple on screens; on hand to share the latest breaking and topical news with viewers.
As well as her BBC Breakfast stint, Naga has also turned to the airwaves, as she has her very own show on BBC Radio 5.
But away from the iconic sofa, Naga is loved-up with her long-term husband. Here’s everything you need to know about their romance.
Naga on wedding day blunder to James
Naga is married to James Haggar. With a successful career in broadcast television, James has worked as a television director and broadcast consultant for Sky News’ panel show The Pledge.
His resume also includes over a decade as a senior director at CNBC International and prior roles directing Five News and OK TV.
The couple had their first date at a pool club and dated for a while before tying the knot in 2007. But according to Naga, disaster struck on her wedding day while she was on the dance floor,
“I don’t know if I styled it out, but I did fall over in a big, puffy wedding dress during my first dance to You’re Just Too Good To Be True,” she said on her BBC Radio 5 Live show.
Naga went on: “We even figured out a dance routine and everything. It didn’t go to plan but the wedding day was a success apart from that.”
Naga on why she and James didn’t have kids
Naga and James do not have children and she previously opened up about why they didn’t have any kids, revealing that she never wanted them.
In a candid chat with Time, Naga said: “We never tried, and I never miscarried; we just never really wanted them. We kept putting the decision off, and then life got better for us, we became more selfish… and just didn’t find the time.”
She also told The Sun: “I remember when I told someone that I had decided I didn’t want children, someone told me I was wicked.
“Wicked against my mother for denying her grandchildren. It’s quite interesting, isn’t it, how people react.”
Naga on secret to romance with James
Naga has often spoken about her romance with James over the years. On the Her Spirit podcast she gushed: “James and I don’t row, and he’s a lovely, lovely man, he’s definitely the better half.”
And in 2016, she shared the key to her successful relationship with James. She told The Guardian: “When James and I got married almost 12 years ago, one of his aunts said to us: the best bit of advice I can give you is to simply be kind to one another. She was right.”
Naga also added: “James and I are both golfers, and I think it’s great for our relationship.
