The 66-year-old broadcaster turned to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday (January 14) to reveal that he’d endured some particularly challenging days this week. He posted: “Awful days yesterday and this morning. Really heavy cold. Can’t stop sneezing. No energy.” The Irish television personality was swiftly met with an avalanche of supportive messages from followers, who filled the replies with heartfelt wishes.

“Oh bless you, get well soon Eamonn!” one supporter commented. Another chimed in: “Get well soon,” whilst a third offered: “It’s a horrible feeling when you have a cold or flu. I wish you well and hope you feel better soon.”

A fourth admirer mirrored the sentiment, posting: “Get better soon Eamonn. Have plenty of rest,” with another similarly expressing: “You poor old soul. Hope you’re soon feeling better,” reports the Mirror.

Meanwhile, one follower shared some practical guidance for the star: “Lemon and ginger are obvious remedies but another thing that’s not considered common is garlic. I prefer pickled garlic cloves daily and a walk in the fresh air and sunshine. Cold shower if I can manage it, you’ll be fresh as a daisy in no time.”

Eamonn was notably missing from his GB News Breakfast programme with Ellie Costello this morning (January 14), with Stephen Dixon filling in for him. The former This Morning host typically presents the programme with Ellie from Monday to Wednesday.

Eamonn’s health revelation follows the broadcaster’s admission that he was experiencing “one of the toughest periods of his life” whilst battling mobility problems stemming from back surgery. The presenter’s chronic condition started in 2021, leaving him dependent on a walking stick. The discomfort originated from a dislocated pelvis, which subsequently led to three slipped discs. In 2022, Eamonn underwent spinal surgery to alleviate the pain, which unfortunately “went wrong”.

His condition worsened after the first surgery, greatly affecting his legs. Eamonn then fell down a flight of stairs, breaking his shoulder and leaving him reliant on walking frames and wheelchairs.

Whilst hosting his GB News programme shortly after breaking his shoulder, Eamonn openly revealed: “It’s been a hellish few weeks. But day by day I’m improving and I am remaining positive and trying to look on the bright side.” He confirmed he would require “extra time off” for recuperation, before praising the NHS personnel who had been caring for him. He continued: “Also, I really must say a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nursing staff who have been looking after me. They are all amazing. God bless.”

The star has faced a turbulent period after announcing his plans to divorce wife Ruth Langsford after 14 years of marriage in 2024. Eamonn is now in a relationship with 43-year-old relationship counsellor Katie Alexander.
