Liam Payne’s former girlfriend Kate Cassidy has revealed that she had to rely on the help of a close friend to attend Liam Payne’s funeral. Kate recently took to the social media platform TikTok to reply to one of her followers about flying economy.
And within the short clip Kate is seen explaining that her lifestyle has completely changed to the point where she could not afford the flight to bury the One Direction star.
She told her fans: “Last year I couldn’t even afford the flight to get to London for my boyfriend’s funeral. I couldn’t even afford an economy flight, I had to have a friend book it for me.”
She went on to say: “I don’t think people should judge where you are sitting on a plane.” Kate dated the singer and father of one for two years between 2022 and 2024. Liam tragically died after falling off the third floor hotel balcony, while on holiday in Argentina. He was 31 at the time.

Earlier this month, Kate, 25, was seen in an emotional state when she returned to the home she once shared with Liam before his tragic passing. Kate had been sitting outside the property for 45 minutes and decided to share her grief with all of her fans on TikTok. She told her followers that she had never “felt so much pain.”
On the back of his success while in One Direction, Liam invested his money in property including one in Buckinghamshire and a rental mansion in Florida.
She told her followers: “I’ve been sitting outside of the house that I used to live in with Liam for the past 45 minutes just in my car and it’s just really hard to wrap my head around the fact that I’m not pulling in the driveway and going home to him being there.”
She said: “You really just never know what life is going to bring. Life can bring you plenty of happiness and plenty of joy, I’ve experienced it all. But I’ve never felt this much pain.”
Kate continued: “I came back to the town that me and Liam had a life in and where we were happy. I’ve only been here for two days, I really, really thought that this trip would help me move forward. But I feel like this trip has been the opposite for me.
I would do absolutely anything right now to be able to pull onto the driveway and just be walking into the house with him waiting for me on the couch.”
“I’ve been doing a lot of things that me and Liam would enjoy and instead of it bringing me comfort, it’s really just brought me nothing but sadness. I feel like I’m just five steps backwards,” she went on to say. “And I do love being here, I know that makes no sense because I’m sitting here crying my eyes out saying that it’s bringing me so much sadness but I love it so much because I was just so in love with him,” she continued.
She concluded her post saying: “Here, where it all started. Our life really, really began together and it’s just been really hard.’ Kate had been staying with Liam in Argentina. But she left for the Florida mansion two days before the singer plunged from the third floor of the hotel.”
Last year, Kate jumped on TickTok once again and revealed that her future boyfriend will have to accept that she will always love Liam.
She candidly explained: “I want to make something clear. Whoever I end up with in my future will have to accept the fact I will always love Liam.”
She added: “I will always talk about Liam, I will always laugh about Liam, I will always cry about Liam. et me tell you something, Liam Payne was my boyfriend. He wasn’t just this famous figure to me.”
Kate went on to say: “It hurts so bad because I am just criticised all the time for speaking about my boyfriend that passed away, the person that I loved and still do love. would never settle for anyone in this lifetime who did not feel comfortable enough with me speaking about Liam.
The social media influencer ended her post saying: “Liam was a very big part of my life. He was my best friend, somebody I really thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with and, obviously, I know one day I’m going to have to move on. I want to get married one day. I want to have kids. When a person dies, they die twice, once when they actually die and the second time when you stop speaking about them. I’m not going to have Liam die twice on me. I will love him forever.”
