Bodies of man & teen boy found in burnt-out car after cops called to vehicle fire on Scots road
A MAN and a teenage boy have tragically died in a horror one-car crash fire.
The fatal smash happened on the A830 at Corpach, near Fort William, early on Saturday morning.
Emergency crews raced to the scene after the alarm was raised around 3am.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze and two bodies were discovered within the blue Vauxhall Astra.
Formal identification has yet to take place but the families of two males, aged 16 and 44, have been informed.
Cones remain at the scene, where the car appears to have left the road and collided with trees down an embankment.
Officers’ enquiries have concluded that the crash happened around 1.45am.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the crash around 2.40am on Saturday.
One appliance was dispatched and firefighters left the scene around 5am.
The busy route, linking Fort William and Mallaig, was closed while crash investigators conducted a probe.
The section of the A830 was fully reopened at 7pm on Sunday.
Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries into the circumstances of the tragic crash.
Cops are appealing to the public for information and urging any witnesses to get in touch.
Police have also asked any motorists with dash cams who were in the area around the time of the crash to check their footage.
Sergeant Calum MacAulay said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the people who died in this crash.
“It’s vital we establish exactly what happened and I’m appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
“If you were on the A830 in the early hours of Saturday morning and saw anything which may help, please come forward.
“I’d also appeal to drivers with dash-cam footage of the area around the time to review this for anything significant.”
