Police have confirmed a woman who was found dead inside a garbage bin in Moncton, N.B., was the victim of a homicide.
The RCMP responded to a report of a sudden death at the end of High Street around 12:10 p.m. Sunday. They found the woman dead in a garbage bin outside, near a walking trail.
Police say the 40-year-old woman was from Moncton but they have not released her identity.
New Brunswick’s RCMP Major Crime Unit is investigating the suspicious death, which police are treating as a homicide.

Paris Cormier lives near where the woman’s body was found.
“I have two small children, and I could have been walking by with my children,” said Cormier. “My kids could have seen that. It’s sad. It’s really sad. It’s a shame that it happened because it’s somebody’s daughter, somebody’s partner or sister.”
Cormier said the area is usually pretty quiet.
The RCMP also conducted an operation a few blocks away on Norwood Avenue early Monday morning in connection with the investigation
On Monday, Oulette said the public could see police activity at both locations in the coming days.
That was certainly the case at an eight-unit dwelling on Norwood Tuesday, where several members of the RCMP, including a forensic team, continued to investigate.
Police appeared to be speaking to tenants while photos were taken around the building.
The affordable housing units are run by the province.
