TRAGIC FIND
Human remains found on Ben Nevis as family of missing man who vanished three years ago informed

THE family of a man missing for three years have been informed after human remains were found on Ben Nevis.
Harvey Christian, 42, went missing from Fort William in January 2023.

The remains were found on the south side of the mountain earlier this morning.
The remains have yet to be formally identified but Harvey’s family have been informed of the discovery.
Cops say there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
Harvey had travelled from Scotland from Cambridgeshire to climb Ben Nevis.
But the alarm was raised when he failed to return home from Fort William.
A major search was launched and his black Vauxhall Crossland X was discovered parked in a layby in Glen Nevis.
Police, mountain rescue teams and the Coastguard were all called in to scour Scotland’s tallest mountain in a bid to find the missing hiker.
Cops issued a reappeal for information one year after his disappearance and urged anyone locally who may have seen Harvey to come forward.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.50am on Saturday, 28 February, human remains were found on the south side of Ben Nevis.
“The remains have yet to be formally identified but the family of Harvey Christian, 42, reported missing from the Fort William area in January, 2023, has been informed.
“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
It comes as another body was found during the search for a missing hillwalker in Argyll and Bute.
George Smith, 64, was reported missing when he didn’t return from a hike after ravelling to Tarbet.
A body was found in Arrochar yesterday morning during searches for the missing hiker, from Stranraer.
The body has yet to be identified although his family have been informed.
