A NINETY-year-old mum and her daughter have tragically died following a horror crash near a hospital.
Cops have arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of drug driving after the fatal collision in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire.
Emergency crews, including fire and air ambulance were scrambled to the smash shortly before 3pm on Tuesday.
A silver Kia Picanto and a grey BMW 118i M Sport were involved in the smash on White Hill, near Mount Vernon Hospital.
The passenger in the Kia, a woman aged in her 90s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Her daughter, in her 60s, and the driver of the Kia suffered life threatening injuries during the collision.
She was airlifted to hospital, but tragically died of her injuries the following night.
Hertfordshire Police confirmed their family has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
The force said a 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He was also arrested for driving over the limit of a specified drug and possession of cannabis.
The man, from Watford, has since been released on police bail as an investigation remains ongoing.
DC Dale Morris, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit, urged anyone with information to come forward.
He said: “This is a devastating loss of a mother and daughter, and my thoughts are with their loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
“Our enquires are ongoing as we continue to establish the full circumstances of the collision.
“If anyone has any information, or captured any dash cam footage, please report it to the police.”
