Towie’s Jake Hall had debts of £1.5m before tragic Majorca death as business went bust
The Only Way Is Essex star Jake Hall reportedly had multiple debts at the time of his death after being scammed and following the breakdown of his fashion brand.
It has been revealed that The Only Way Is Essex ‘s Jake Hall had debts of £1.5million before he died last week, following the breakdown of his fashion business.
The Towie star died aged just 35 last week at an Airbnb on the Spanish island after smashing into a glass door in a tragic accident.
It has now emerged the artist had been in financial debt after his fashion company, Prevu London Limited, went into liquidation in 2025, owing around £1.49million.
According to The Sun, the business owed £181,581 to HMRC, as well as a £1.1million loan to an Essex-based property business. The business also reportedly owed thousands of pounds in debts to other unnamed creditors. Hall was the sole director of the company until his death.
Speaking to The Sun, a close friend claimed that Jake: “wanted to live like Cristiano Ronaldo but had the budget of a Towie star”.
“There was a point when Jake was on the show when he had the world at his feet,” the friend said. “He suddenly had loads of money and his business went well but that had not been the case more recently. He would put up a big front but the money wasn’t there any more.”
A fund has been set up to help raise money for Hall’s relatives, the fund explains that the star had been the victim of a “cruel scam” which had caused him “stress and upset”.
The GoFundMe page, set up by close friends, raised more than £2,600 towards a £13,000 target as of Monday afternoon.
In the fundraiser description, a friend wrote: “We all woke up this morning to the heartbreaking news that our dear friend Jake passed away in the early hours of yesterday morning.
“Over the past few weeks, Jake had shared with me that he had been the victim of a cruel scam and had lost £100,000. It had understandably caused him a great deal of stress and upset.
“Those who knew Jake know that his daughter, River, was his entire world. In honour of Jake’s memory, we are hoping to raise the £100,000 he lost so that it can be given in full to River and help support her future.”
Those close to his reported to the Daily Mail that Hall was scammed out of £100,000 by an art dealer. They believe this incident left him “spiralling”.
“He started to shut out his friends and stop picking up the phone or answering messages”, they said. “It all went downhill within a matter of weeks. Things get rowdy in those circles. Pair that with someone not in a good headspace and it only gets worse.
“It’s so sad, he just got in the wrong crowd. It’s his daughter who will now suffer the most.”
