A YOUNG man has sadly died in a crash in Co Antrim.
The 20-year-old, who was driving the grey BMW involved in the single-vehicle crash, was rushed to hospital after the horrific collision on the Castlecat Road in Dervock.
However, he sadly passed away shortly after the crash, which took place at around 1am.
The PSNI confirmed the man was from the Crossgar area of Co Down but he has not yet been named locally.
Officers from the PSNI rushed to the scene of the horror crash alongside other members of emergency services in the early hours of this morning.
The Castlecat Road was closed overnight as detectives examined the scene of the collision but it has since reopened.
The PSNI is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
Detective Inspector Stewart from the Collision Investigation Unit said: “Police received a report of a collision involving a grey BMW shortly before one am.
“Officers attended alongside emergency partners, and the male driver, who was aged 20 and from the Crossgar area, was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries, where he sadly passed away.
“The Castlecat Road, which was closed overnight as detectives conducted enquiries, has now reopened to motorists.
“Our enquiries are continuing, and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have digital footage which could assist with our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 76 of 05/04/26.”
Separately, two men are fighting for their lives in hospital after a horror motorbike crash in Lisburn, Co Antrim at around 4:30pm yesterday.
The PSNI is appealing for witnesses of the singe-vehicle crash on the Pond Park Road East in Lisburn to come forward.
Local policing Inspector Henderson said: “We received a report that a motorbike had collided with a crash barrier at around 4.25pm.
“The two men on-board, aged in their 30s, had sustained serious injury.
“Both men remain in hospital at this time, in a critical but stable condition.
“We would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or the manner of driving leading up to it, to contact us.
“We would be particularly keen to hear from anyone with relevant dashcam footage.
“The number to call is 101, quoting reference 994 of 04/04/26.”
