THE body of a man has been pulled from the sea at Brighton beach – weeks after three sisters tragically drowned.
The tragic discovery was made at around 6.40am after emergency services rushed to the scene following “concerns for a man in the water”.
Sussex Police said: “At around 6.40am today, emergency services attended Brighton beach, near to Sea Lanes in Madeira Drive, after concerns were raised for a man in the water.
“The body of a man was recovered from the sea, and sadly, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“Attempts to identify the man and notify his next of kin remain ongoing.
“Officers will continue carrying out enquiries in the area, and an increased police presence is expected at this time.”
This comes after three sisters, Jane Adetoro, 36, Christina Walters, 32, and Rebecca Walters, 31, were tragically pulled from the water on May 13 just half a mile away in the Black Rock area.
A frantic search was launched at 5.45am after reports of a person in the water near Brighton.
Emergency services were called to the beach near Black Rock car park off Madeira Drive.
Police later confirmed three women had been pulled from the water.
Officers are probing a number of lines of enquiry with the investigation ongoing.
The siblings’ heartbroken father identified his children 16 years after their mum Janice, 43, was also found drowned after disappearing in Birmingham.
An inquest recently heard how Rebecca’s body washed up on the shore while Christina and Jane were found in the water by the RNLI.
The provisional cause of death for the women is yet to be ascertained.
Senior coroner Penelope Schofield confirmed police believe there is no third party involvement in the sisters’ deaths.
She added: “I hope this will stop the social media speculation around the circumstances of their deaths.”
Joseph, the sisters’ dad, said “no words can truly describe the pain” of losing his family after the triple tragedy.
He also described the girls as his “joy and strength” in a moving tribute after they died.
Joseph added: “The tragedy of losing all three of you has left an emptiness that words cannot heal.”
“Today, with a heart full of sorrow and love, I pay tribute to my beloved daughters — Jane, Christina, and Becky — whose lives ended so tragically far too soon.”
