Teenager arrested over hit-and-run crash that killed ‘beautiful’ Limerick nurse, 30s, as gardai confirm probe ‘ongoing’

Gardai today confirmed that they have arrested a man, aged in his late teens, in connection with the crash, which took place on the N24 near Grange West, Boher, on Friday, February 13.
The victim, Aine O’Reilly, 30s, died in the three-car crash as she drove to work in Limerick last month.
Another man, aged in his 40s, was also injured and treated for non-life threatening injuries in Limerick Hospital.
Cops confirmed this morning they arrested an adult male, aged in his late teens, in connection with the probe.
The young man is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in the Limerick Division.
A spokesperson this morning confirmed that investigations “are ongoing.”
They said: “Gardai continue to investigate a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the N24 near Grange West, Boher, Co. Limerick on Friday 13th February 2026.
“Today, Thursday 19th March 2026, Gardai arrested an adult male, aged in his late teens, in connection with this investigation.
“He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in the Limerick Division. Investigations are ongoing.”
The local community in Limerick was left devastated by the news of Aine’s passing, with many paying tribute to the Pallasgreen native last month.
One mourner said: “My heartfelt condolences to Aine’s mother and father, brothers, sister-in-law, nephew, and extended family and friends on her untimely passing.
“A beautiful young girl going to work to help others. It is heartbreaking for you all.
“Thinking of you all at this most difficult time. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.”
Someone else added: “Your beautiful daughter, sister and aunt..may she R.I.P Lord hear us.
“Please try and remember the beautiful happy times you had together with her… God bless you all getting through this.
“Aine will mind you everyday just like you minded her. Look after yourselves please.”
A third said: “What a beautiful, beautiful girl. May God help you all with this heartbreak you are going through now and in time to come and help you with the grief and pain you are feeling. I will include you in my prayers…you all have a beautiful Angel in Heaven.”
