Everything destrσyed in an instant: Police reveal UNUSUAL details about a devɑstɑting house fιre in Cork that clɑιmed the lιfe of a 67-year-old woman.

A WOMAN has died in a house fire in the southside of Cork city.

The 67-year-old sadly passed away after the blaze broke out in a terraced house in Palmbury Estate in Togher this morning.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at around 6am after the alarm was raised by a neighbour when her smoke detector went off.

A number of Cork City Fire Brigade units responded with up to 20 personnel fighting the fire in the house, which was ablaze when they arrived.

They remained at the scene for several hours.

Units also had to deal with the fire spreading to houses on the left and right of its origin.

Firefighters using breathing apparatus entered the house when the fire was brought under control and found the pensioner’s body in her bedroom upstairs.

The body will be taken to the morgue in Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem will be carried out.

Gardai are investigating as are forensic fire specialists who will try to determine the source of blaze.

However it’s understood that Gardai do not believe there was anything suspicious about the fire and are treating it as a tragic accident.
