A FARMER has plunged to his death in a grain silo on his farm.
Firefighters scrambled to the scene and were forced to “cut open” the structure.

Emergency services were at the scene in Burscough, Lancashire, for hours but sadly could not save the farmer.
Officers arrived at the farm around 4:30pm on Thursday after the alarm was raised.
A vehicle came along at around 3pm to collect grain from the farm, it is understood.
The death is not being treated as suspicious, and the investigation has been passed along to Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
One neighbour said: “It’s so sad, he was a nice man, and had not long farmed all the grain from the fields.
“Even at his age he was still out on the fields farming,” reports the Liverpool Echo.
The farmer was believed to have been in his 80s when he died.
Another resident added that the grain grower lived with his wife and they “kept themselves to themselves”.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: “Firefighters worked with paramedics but sadly, the person was pronounced deceased at the scene, and our thoughts are with their family and friends at this difficult time.
“Firefighters were in attendance for approximately four hours and 40 minutes.”
A Lancashire Police spokesperson added: “At 4:37pm on Thursday 21 May we were called to reports of an industrial accident at a farm on Orrell Lane, Burscough.
“Emergency services attended and very sadly a man in his 80s was found deceased.
“Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this difficult time and they are being supported by specially trained officers.
“The Health Service Executive have been informed and a file will be passed to the coroner in due course.”
A Health and Safety spokesperson confirmed they are investigating.
