Tragedy as two men die in same Asda just 48 hours apart after medical emergencies in front of horrified shoppers

TWO men have died just days apart in front of horrified shoppers at an Asda.

Emergency services were rushed to the supermarket in West Swindon District Centre on February 13 and 15.

Both men experienced unexpected medical emergencies and died in front of distressed shoppers.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called to Asda, West Swindon, at 4.55pm following reports of a male in cardiac arrest.

“Extensive efforts were made to save the man’s life, but he sadly died around 40 minutes later.

“The death is being treated as non-suspicious and no one has been arrested.”

The South Western Ambulance Service received a call at 10:08am on February 15 about a medical emergency at an Asda in Swindon, Wiltshire.

It sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, and an operations officer to the scene.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the man in his seventies was pronounced dead at the scene.

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said: “We were called at 10.08am on Sunday, February 15, to an incident in Swindon.

“We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, and an operations officer to the scene.”

According to Wiltshire Police, the death is being treated as “non-suspicious” and no arrests had been made.

The force added: “At around 10:15am yesterday we responded to a medical episode at the West Swindon District Centre involving a man in his 70s.

“He was sadly declared dead at the scene.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and our thoughts are with his family.”

The sudden death follows a similar incident that happened just two days before, when another man also suffering from a “medical incident” died at the Asda.

Emergency services were called to the same supermarket store just before 5pm on February 13 following reports of a man in cardiac arrest.

Shoppers watched in shock as paramedics tried to save the man’s life.

Despite their efforts, he died at around 5:30pm with the force believing no foul play was involved in the death.

Wiltshire Police said: “This relates to a medical incident which officers supported ambulance colleagues with.

“We were called to Asda, West Swindon, at 4.55pm following reports of a male in cardiac arrest.

“Extensive efforts were made to save the man’s life, but he sadly died around 40 minutes later.

“The death is being treated as non-suspicious and no one has been arrested.”
