Woman, 50s, pronounced dead at scene of Cavan property after being ‘found unresponsive’ as cops await post-mortem exam

A PROBE has been launched after a woman was found unresponsive and later died at an apartment this morning.

The woman, in her 50s, was discovered unresponsive at the property on Connolly Street, Cavan town shortly after 2am this morning.

Gardai and emergency services were called but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner and office of the State Pathologist have been notified, while a post-mortem examination is being arranged.

Gardai said they are investigating the death and expect the results of the post-mortem to assist the probe.

It’s understood the woman was from eastern Europe.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are investigating the death of a woman in her 50s who was found unresponsive at a residential property on Connolly Street, Cavan, shortly after 2am on 7th April 2026.

“Gardai and emergency services were alerted to the scene, where the woman was pronounced dead.

“The coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

“The results of the post-mortem will assist Gardai in determining the direction of their investigation.”

It is the second death in as many months on the same street after the body of a man in his 40s was found on Connolly Street on Wednesday, March 11.
